German government aircraft makes emergency landing in Seychelles

A German government aircraft, a Bombardier Global 5000, was forced to make an unscheduled landing in the Seychelles due to technical issues during a training mission. The flight was traveling from Egypt to Réunion as part of an ‘Africa training’ exercise designed to practice flying in uncontrolled airspace and under specific climatic conditions, such as high temperatures and altitudes.

The landing sparked political debate after Malte Kaufmann, a member of the AfD, shared a photo of the aircraft on social media, suggesting it might be an unannounced vacation for the Chancellor or a minister. The German Ministry of Defence denied these claims, stating the mission was strictly for training purposes.

Repairs are underway using parts, including a hydraulic pump, delivered by a French A400M transport aircraft. The plane is expected to depart for Germany on Friday, pending the receipt of necessary diplomatic clearances for overflight from other nations.
