German Green Party calls for Middle East peace negotiations
The German Green Party parliamentary group has submitted a motion to the federal government urging the European Union to advocate for new negotiations to resolve the Middle East conflict. The motion emphasizes the necessity of actively involving women and civil society voices in the peace process.
In response to ongoing settlement construction by the current Israeli government, the Greens are calling for a complete ban on the import of products from illegal settlements in occupied territories, requesting that the German government push for an EU-level decision. They also advocate for the reinstatement of arms export restrictions and argue that the federal government should not block the partial suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.
Additionally, the motion calls for pressure on the Palestinian Authority to hold timely elections and implement democratic and rule-of-law reforms, while reaffirming support for a two-state solution.
