German gymnastics team nominated for World Championships in Rotterdam

The German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) has announced its nominations for the upcoming World Championships in Rotterdam, scheduled from October 17 to 25.

The women's squad features a mix of experienced athletes and newcomers. Karina Schönmaier, a former European champion, will lead the team alongside Helen Kevric, the reigning European champion on uneven bars. Other nominated athletes include Lea Quaas, Madita Mayr, and Jesenia Schäfer. One spot remains uncertain as the federation decides between Jesenia Schäfer and Emma Malewski based on qualification results and medal potential.

Head coach Gerben Wiersma stated that the team's objective is to secure a position within the top twelve globally and to reach at least one individual all-around and one apparatus final.

In the men's category, the selection process is still ongoing, with only Timo Eder currently confirmed for the squad. Notably, 2017 uneven bar world champion Pauline Schäfer-Betz will miss the competition due to a hip injury.
