German health care reform push for barrier‑free primary care

The German Social Association for Health (SoVD) released a demand paper titled “Primary Care Redesign,” calling for a barrier‑free, locally accessible primary‑care system. The proposal stresses simple, coordinated services, inter‑professional teams, low‑threshold advice centres and a legal quality standard for accessibility, aiming to remove structural obstacles and improve health‑care equity. SoVD chair Michaela Engelmeier said the system must become “simpler, fairer and more reliable.”

In the district of Neustadt, officials presented a 600‑page structural report outlining changes to the regional health landscape through the 2030s. County executive Dr. Christian von Dobschütz highlighted plans to maintain health provision at two sites, with the Bad Windsheim Clinic playing a central role in the transformation.
