German Bundestag postpones vote on GKV contribution stabilization law
The German Federal Parliament and Bundesrat were set to decide on the GKV contribution stabilization law by 10 July 2026, but the scheduled reading on 26 June was postponed. The delay gives the Spitzenverband der Heilmittelverbände (SHV) additional time to press for amendments, warning that the draft’s limits on remuneration could undermine the financial stability of therapeutic practices, hinder staffing, and strain patient care.
Separately, a coalition of unions, welfare organisations and political parties has launched an online petition and plans a demonstration on 6 June 2026 in Hannover, urging the government to protect the social welfare system and reject the proposed austerity measures linked to the health‑insurance reforms.
