Lidl recalls Freshona frozen berries in Germany over Norovirus risk
Lidl has issued a precautionary recall of the Freshona Bio Beerenmischung erntefrisch tiefgefroren (300 g) after the manufacturer Jütro Tiefkühlkost GmbH & Co. KG could not exclude the presence of Norovirus in the product. The recall applies to packs with best‑before dates 17 April 2028 and 18 April 2028 and batch numbers L180426H3, L180426L3, L190426L3 and L190426N N. The berries were sold in most German states – Baden‑Württemberg, Bayern, Berlin, Brandenburg, Hessen, Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern, Niedersachsen, Nordrhein‑Westfalen, Rheinland‑Pfalz, Saarland, Sachsen, Sachsen‑Anhalt and Thüringen – but not in Bremen, Hamburg or Schleswig‑Holstein.
Norovirus can cause sudden vomiting and diarrhoea, leading to rapid fluid loss, and poses a higher risk for infants, young children, pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised persons. Consumers are advised not to eat the product and to return any affected packs to Lidl stores for a full refund, even without a receipt. The manufacturer confirmed that other Freshona items and other products from Jütro are not affected.
