German historical sites celebrate Open Monument Day
During the ‘Tag des offenen Denkmals’ (Open Monument Day), various historical sites in Germany showcased preservation efforts and cultural activities.
In Kißlegg, Mayor Dieter Krattenmacher led a tour of the ‘Löwen’ building, highlighting a complex renovation of its 200-year-old roof. The project required significant structural work, including building a new timber frame inside the old structure to preserve the original beams while meeting modern fire and energy standards. Once completed, the ground floor will serve as a social hub for community organizations such as ‘Bürger für Bürger’ and ‘Herz und Gemüt’.
In Eppelborn, the Bauernhaus Habach hosted events under the theme ‘NetzWERKE: Denkmale und Infrastruktur’. The site featured exhibitions of acrylic paintings, ceramics, jewelry, and paper art. Proceeds from a local raffle are intended to support the ongoing maintenance of the farmhouse.
