German hospitality sector faces economic pressure and structural challenges
The German gastronomy and hospitality sectors are facing significant economic pressure due to rising costs, labor shortages, and changing consumer expectations. According to Uwe Steiniger, an ambassador for Toques d’Or, many businesses have historically struggled by underpricing their services, offering quality and service at levels that were not economically sustainable. This has led to a lack of consumer trust when necessary price adjustments are finally made.
To navigate these challenges, the Zukunftsinstitut has introduced a model featuring four archetypes to help businesses actively shape their future: the Visionary, the Researcher, the Pioneer, and the Entrepreneur. These archetypes focus on internal attitudes rather than job titles, helping teams balance long-term direction with practical, everyday management to combat industry volatility.
