German hospitality sector sees restaurant closures and new openings

The hospitality sector in southern and western Germany is experiencing a mix of closures and new openings. In Saarbrücken, the retro-themed breakfast cafe ‘Café77’ has closed after only one year of operation. The establishment, which offered Turkish-inspired fusion breakfasts, follows the recent failure of ‘La Sandwicherie’ at the same location, which closed after less than six months due to a lack of regular customers.

In contrast, the Konstanz region has seen several new culinary ventures. The restaurant ‘Safran’ recently opened, introducing Afghan and Persian cuisine to the area. Additionally, ‘Alma Tapas Latinas’ has launched at Sankt-Gebhard-Platz, offering South American tapas with local Baden influences. In Dettighofen, the traditional ‘Rebstock’ inn has undergone a generational transition, with Samantha Frahm and Jèrôme Schwarz taking over the family business for its fifth generation.
