German hospitals utilize robotic-assisted surgery for cancer treatment

Medical facilities in Germany are utilizing robotic-assisted surgical systems to treat complex cancer cases. At the Südharz-Klinikum in Nordhausen, medical teams recently reached a milestone by completing their 1,000th robotic-assisted operation. The milestone procedure involved a right-sided hemicolectomy for a patient with colon cancer, performed by Chief Physician Torben Glatz, assistant physician Anh Thu Tran Le, and surgical technician Moritz Reinhardt.

The robotic system at Südharz-Klinikum is now used across multiple departments, including urology, gynecology, ENT, and thoracic surgery, to provide precise and minimally invasive interventions. Previous recent cases included a bladder removal and an esophageal tumor resection.

In Trier, the Klinikum Mutterhaus is also employing robotic technology for oncological reconstruction. Surgeons, including Chief Physician Stefan Heinrich, have utilized these systems to perform complex procedures such as esophageal tumor removals, offering curative treatment options for patients diagnosed with various forms of cancer.
