German housing companies launch major residential projects in Berlin and Hamburg
Major residential development projects are underway in Berlin and Hamburg to address housing needs.
In Berlin-Lichtenberg, the state-owned company HOWOGE has submitted a building application for a 21-story residential high-rise on Schulze-Boysen-Straße. The project aims to create 244 new apartments on a site currently used as a parking lot. This submission marks a significant milestone in the planning process for the densely populated area.
In Hamburg, the municipal housing company SAGA is planning to build approximately 1,000 new apartments in the Billstedt and Horn districts. The developments include 106 terraced houses in the Haferblöcken Ost quarter, expected to be ready by late 2027, as well as around 300 new units near Möllner Landstraße following the demolition of existing structures.
