German hurdlers face setbacks at European Athletics Championships

At the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, German hurdlers faced significant challenges during the 100m hurdles competition. German champion Franziska Schuster suffered a hard fall during the semifinals after catching her right leg on the seventh hurdle. Despite landing on her nose, she was able to stand up quickly and appeared to avoid serious injury, though she noted she expected significant soreness the following day.

Other German competitors also missed out on the final. Rosina Schneider finished tenth overall with a time of 12.96 seconds, while Lia Flotow placed twelfth in the semifinals with a time of 13.02 seconds.

The competition highlights a period of intense depth in German women's hurdling. Earlier in the season at the German Championships, Marlene Meier recorded a strong time of 12.95 seconds, yet the high level of domestic competition meant she was unable to secure a spot for the European Championships.
