German industry expands investment in Portugal

German industrial leaders are expressing strong confidence in the Portuguese economy, viewing the country as both a productive platform and a strategic logistics hub for international markets. Companies including Bosch, Fuchs, TeamViewer, Saertex, and DHL are actively investing in the region.

Thorsten Kötschau, executive director of the Luso-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILA), noted that investors value Portugal’s qualified multilingual workforce, political stability, high quality of life, and growing expertise in digitalization, renewable energy, and industrial services.

Bosch remains one of the largest German presences in Portugal, employing 5,900 people across Aveiro, Braga, Ovar, and Lisbon, with a reported turnover of 2.1 billion euros in 2025. The company is also completing a 100 million euro investment in the development and production of heat pumps.
