Cyberattacks hit German State Art Collections Dresden and hotel booking system

A cyberattack on the State Art Collections Dresden unfolded over several days from January 17 to 21, 2026. The Saxon Justice Ministry confirmed that the Central Office for Cybercrime (ZCS) at the General Prosecutor's Office in Dresden is handling the investigation, but the perpetrators remain unidentified and no specific leads have been disclosed.

In July 2026, a nationwide hotel‑software service provider suffered a second cyber breach of the year, exposing guest personal information such as names, addresses and booking details, though bank and payment data were not compromised. Earlier in February, a similar incident affected a different provider. The Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern data protection authority reported that the leaked data is already being used in phishing attempts and advised hotels to notify affected guests and warn them against fraudulent communications.
