Maximilian Krah visits Northern Cyprus to discuss international isolation

Maximilian Krah, a member of the German Bundestag representing the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, conducted a series of visits to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to discuss the Cyprus issue and regional challenges.

During meetings with TRNC Assembly President Ziya Öztürkler and Minister Erhan Arıklı, Krah addressed the international isolation faced by the Turkish Cypriot community. Officials highlighted obstacles in trade, travel, sports, and culture, noting that these restrictions hinder economic development and social visibility. Öztürkler noted that previous invitations for German parliamentarians to visit had been rejected by the German Bundestag’s Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid Committee.

Krah also met with the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry and Commerce (KTSO) to discuss the economic impact of current restrictions, including the lack of direct flights and trade barriers. Krah stated his intention to bring these observations to German and European public attention, emphasizing that the issues facing Turkish Cypriots, such as travel limitations and economic constraints, should be more visible in Europe.
