German Leaders and Biogas Industry Express Optimism for Economic Future
At a joint HanseBelt Summer Lunch and IHK‑Fokus Wirtschaft event in Lübeck‑Travemünde on 23 July 2026, professors, ministers and business executives highlighted Germany’s strong research achievements, reduced bureaucracy and the ambition of a young generation. Moderator Prof. Dr. Thomas Straubhaar summed up the sentiment: “Das sind starke Signale für die Zukunft. Wir haben enormes Potenzial. Jetzt gilt es, es gemeinsam zu nutzen.”
In a separate interview, Christian Quirrenbach, CEO of NQ‑Anlagentechnik, said the biogas sector remains confident despite short‑term policy shifts. He warned that “kaum Planungssicherheit durch kurzfristige politische Entscheidungen” threatens financing, but stressed that Germany still holds a leading position in global biogas markets and views the industry as essential for energy independence.
