German left‑wing ‘Widersetzen’ alliance threatens parties, escalates violence against journalists
The left‑wing extremist coalition “Widersetzen” announced it will target all political parties, singling out the CDU and the BSW, after the AfD’s federal party conference in Erfurt. Spokesperson Noa Sander warned that parties supporting the AfD would become the next “action target”. The group also justified recent assaults on journalists from the Junge Freiheit and “Apollo News”, describing reporters with press credentials as “fascists”.
Widersetzen said it will extend its protests to Saxony‑Anhalt, Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern, Magdeburg and Schwerin in August, planning further actions against the AfD youth march. Critics argue that the alliance’s endorsement of violence harms German democracy, even as it claims to defend it.
