German Local Newspapers Adopt New Formats and Printing Centers
The Schaumburger Wochenblatt will have its next edition printed for the first time at the modern printing centre in Niedersachsen, a facility that handles up to 235,000 daily newspapers and about 1.36 million advertising sheets each week. The move follows a detailed planning process that coordinates editorial pages, advertising placement, and final proofreading before the paper is sent to the press.
Meanwhile, the Wunstorfer Stadtanzeiger has switched from the traditional Berliner format to the larger Rheinisches format, beginning with its 1‑2 August issue. The new size provides more design flexibility and additional space for local reporting. The paper will now be printed later in the week, with delivery on Saturdays and the e‑paper available from Friday. Both changes aim to improve readability and modernise the newspapers while preserving their focus on local news, culture, and community life.
