German machine tool makers Grob and Adelbert Haas launch new automation technologies

Tool‑machine manufacturer Grob has adopted the Accon AG‑Link communication library to enable seamless PC‑PLC interaction in its Industry 4.0 environment. The library underpins the G520 two‑spindle machining centre, which serves automotive customers and supports parallel processing of workpieces. Grob, founded in 1926, now ranks among the top three European tool‑machine firms with annual sales of around €2 billion.

Adelbert Haas GmbH has redeveloped the control architecture of its Multigrind Radical grinding centre, choosing Beckhoff’s PC‑based automation platform. This change lifts performance, reduces system complexity and provides an open platform for custom software. Software expert Marie‑Sophie Maier says, “Our claim is to combine machine building, process knowledge and software into an intelligent total system.” The Multigrind machines are deployed in sectors such as medical technology, aerospace and precision tool manufacturing.
