German man arrested in connection with murder of tourist in Sweden
A 33-year-old German man has been arrested in Karlsruhe following the murder of a 29-year-old German woman in Sweden. The victim, who was on vacation in Kalmar County, was reported missing on July 26, and her body was discovered on August 7. Authorities indicate the death was a violent murder.
Investigations suggest a potential connection to Målilla in Hultsfred municipality, though prosecutors have not confirmed whether the crime occurred there or if the body was moved. The suspect, the victim's partner, was apprehended after Swedish authorities issued a European arrest warrant.
While the man is currently detained, he is reportedly refusing extradition to Sweden. The Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court must now decide on the validity of the extradition request. In addition to murder suspicions, the case involves charges of aggravated violation of the peace of the grave regarding the handling of the body.
