German medical institutions offer cancer support and education

Medical institutions in Germany are highlighting various support systems and educational opportunities for cancer patients and their families.

In Kassel, the OnkoAktiv program offered by the Tumorzentrum Nordhessen focuses on the integration of targeted physical activity into the daily lives of patients. Sports scientist Jakob Muth notes that exercise can mitigate side effects during therapy and help prevent chronic secondary illnesses after treatment. The program aims to help patients overcome uncertainty and motivation difficulties regarding physical activity.

Additionally, the Hochtaunus-Kliniken in Bad Homburg are hosting an Oncology Day on September 26. The event is designed to provide information on modern cancer medicine, diagnostics, and prevention. The program includes expert lectures, such as presentations by Dr. Jon Jones on robot-assisted surgery using the Da Vinci system and Dr. Caroline Lehmann on genetic diagnostics for familial breast and colorectal cancer. The day also features opportunities for direct dialogue with medical professionals and information from self-help groups.
