Germany experiences multiple knife attacks in Sondershausen, Wolfsburg, Duisburg and Saarbrücken

In Sondershausen, a 42‑year‑old man drew a knife after a dispute with a security guard at a supermarket, threatened a staff member and then threatened suicide. Police located and persuaded him to surrender, subdued him, and he was transferred to a psychiatric clinic while investigators pursue several offences.

In Wolfsburg, a late‑night confrontation on a playground behind a gas station escalated into a violent brawl between two groups. Eight men were involved; several sustained serious injuries and three suspects were taken into custody, with one placed in pre‑trial detention. The investigation remains open.

In Duisburg, an early‑morning fight in front of the high‑rise “Weiße Riese” complex resulted in a stabbing. The victim suffered severe wounds and was hospitalized after a murder commission was activated to investigate the incident.

In Saarbrücken, a Syrian man repeatedly stabbed his wife in their apartment. She fell eight metres from a window and died from her injuries. Police, including a special tactical unit, arrested the husband and placed their young daughter into protective custody. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
