German municipalities allocate multi‑million euros to modernise schools

The city of Bregenz has spent several million euros on its public primary schools since 2020, including €1.5 million for city‑wide Wi‑Fi and interactive smart displays, more than €1 million for safer school routes, and extensive refurbishments such as new energy‑efficient lighting, upgraded sports halls and building modernisation. The investments support the long‑term “School Space Strategy Bregenz 2035”.

In Leverkusen, the municipal council signed a construction contract for a new vocational‑school campus in the Wiesdorf district. The project, already budgeted despite a tight fiscal situation, will create three new buildings – classrooms, a cafeteria and a sports hall – with construction slated to start in 2027 and finish by 2029. The city aims to minimise disruption to ongoing classes during the build.
