German municipalities approve new school and childcare construction projects
Several German municipalities are moving forward with significant educational and childcare infrastructure projects to meet legal requirements for all-day care.
In Püchersreuth, Mayor Michaela Treml announced plans for a new building dedicated to all-day primary school care. The project, designed by Weidner-Architekten, involves an extension to the existing school building to create a three-sided complex with a 750-square-meter courtyard. The estimated construction costs are approximately 2.64 million euros, with an expected 87 percent funding rate from government subsidies, leaving the municipality with a direct share of roughly 341,000 euros.
In the Saarland region, the Blieskastel city council approved a plan for an intercommunal primary school in Medelsheim. The project, titled ‘Bickenalbtal-Grundschule am Allmend’, will be shared between the municipalities of Blieskastel and Gersheim. The total project cost is currently estimated at 8.5 million euros. Blieskastel has capped its financial contribution at 2.5 million euros, with funds planned for 2027 and 2028, to mitigate the risk of cost increases.
