German municipalities host free public events on urban planning and waste management in July
The Innovationszentrum Dörentrup in Lippe County invited the public on 15 July for a three‑hour information day covering the Integrated Urban Development Concept for North Lippe, energy‑saving renovations, modern heating systems, funding programmes and a lecture on heat protection for homes.
On 11 July, the waste‑management authority of Viersen County opened its Wertstoff‑ and Logistikzentrum in Nettetal‑Kaldenkirchen to families. Visitors could tour the transfer halls, see modern recycling technology, try a garbage‑truck simulator, and learn about the bio‑waste treatment plant, with activities such as a bounce house and popcorn.
Both events were free, required no registration, and aimed to inform residents about regional sustainability initiatives and everyday environmental practices.
