German municipalities host school visits to promote civic engagement
Local administrations in Germany are hosting school groups to provide practical insights into municipal politics and administration.
In the Vordereifel collective municipality, approximately 40 eighth-grade students from St. Stephanus-Realschule plus participated in a democracy day. Led by Mayor Timo Kanzinger, the students rotated through various stations, including the regional archives and departments covering central services and municipal infrastructure. The program included an introduction to environmental technology professions and a Q&A session with political party spokespersons, concluding with students observing a live session of the collective municipal council.
In Markt Indersdorf, fourth-grade students visited the town hall for an educational session led by First Mayor Franz Obesser. The children toured the administration building, viewed the mayoral chain of office, and engaged in a question-and-answer session in the main council chamber regarding local governance and municipal demographics.
