German municipalities implement local infrastructure upgrades
German municipalities are implementing various local infrastructure improvements. In Gelnhausen, the city has opened a new public restroom facility in the old town near the Obermarkt. The facility, located at Kuhgasse 19, was converted from former retail space to provide a central service point for visitors and event attendees, reducing the need for mobile toilets during festivals.
In Gera, the city has reorganized the maintenance of public transport shelters. A contracted company will handle regular cleaning and minor repairs starting in April 2026. The initiative includes replacing broken glass in shelters and advertising displays. To combat vandalism and graffiti, the city is considering installing robust metal cladding at high-risk locations and exploring creative solutions, such as a graffiti art project involving local youth.
