German museums digitize historic artifacts

The Museum Schloss Lichtenburg has added a Biedermeier‑era clock to its online collection. The 19th‑century timepiece features a wooden case with a richly ornamented gold‑framed front, a white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, and a visible pendulum, but no striking mechanism. Dimensions are 55 × 44.5 × 15.5 cm.

The LOHGERBER Museum & Galerie Dippoldiswalde now displays a wooden and metal chest belonging to the Bauhandwerkerinnung Dippoldiswalde. The chest, dated 1861, bears the inscription “Bauhandwerker Innung Dippoldiswalde” and includes carved composite columns, floral iron hinges, and missing keys that once indicated master ownership. Its size is 40.5 cm × 70 cm × 75 cm. Both objects are documented under Creative Commons licences for non‑commercial use on the museum‑digital platform.
