German museums digitize historic brass lock and Bach portrait

The Stadtmuseum Simeonstift Trier has published a digital record of a hand‑crafted iron lock dating from the 17th–18th century, featuring a richly decorated brass front plate typical of southern German baroque metalwork. The entry details the lock’s dual mechanism—an external latch operated by the handle and an internal massive bolt moved by a key—and provides its dimensions (16 cm × 12.3 cm × 5.8 cm).

The Museum Schloss Lichtenburg added a digital description of a 1985 linocut portrait of Johann Sebastian Bach. The work is signed “Dressler” in the lower right corner, uses strong light‑dark contrasts, and highlights the composer’s wig with fine line work. Its size is 52.7 cm × 42.0 cm × 2.0 cm.
