German museums display historic Celtic coin and Hoffmann von Fallersleben monument

The Museum für Sepulkralkultur in Hessen digitized a 1911 bronze portrait bust of German poet‑linguist August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben, created by sculptor Gerhard Janensch and installed on his grave at the St. Stephanus and Vitus church in Corvey. The monument, unveiled on the 70th anniversary of the "Deutschlandlied," features the poet’s likeness, the opening line of his hymn, and a lyre motif, and is listed as a protected heritage site (Denkmalliste Höxter No. 452).

The Landesmuseum Württemberg’s collection includes a Celtic silver coin known as a "Quinar" with a dancing figure holding a snake and a torc. Minted between 65 BC and 30 BC, the coin originates from the Dünsberg oppidum region (near Gießen) and reflects broader Celtic‑Germanic interactions in early‑historic Central Europe. It is part of a series that illustrates cultural exchange and migration of coinage into the Lippe area.
