German museums host open house events for families

As part of the annual “Türen auf mit der Maus” initiative, various cultural institutions in Germany are hosting open house events for families. Under the theme “Discovering Small Wonders,” these events provide free access to museums and offer educational activities for children.

In Essen, the Domschatz Essen will host a discovery tour from 11:00 to 17:00. The program includes a riddle quiz to find medieval treasures, a craft station for making buttons and crowns, and a large memory game held outdoors on the cathedral courtyard.

In Upper Franconia, the Bauernhofmuseum Kleinlosnitz is participating with a focus on the world of small animals such as bees, beetles, and squirrels. Activities include nature discovery tours, beeswax candle making, and educational films. While museum entry and craft programs are free, some activities may require prior registration.
