German nature parks launch guided Hemer hike and revamp Weiltalweg signage

The Naturpark Sauerland Rothaargebirge is organizing a guided walk on Sunday, 2 August. Starting at 10:30 a.m. from the parking area above the Elfenfohren inn on Ihmerter Straße in Hemer, a certified nature and landscape guide will lead participants on a 14.5‑km route that follows the municipal borders of Hemer, Altena, Neuenrade and Iserlohn. Highlights include the Quitmannsturm viewpoint and a stop at the Schultenhof in Leveringhausen. The walk costs €8 for adults, is free for children, and requires online registration.

Meanwhile, the Naturpark Taunus has modernised the signage of the popular Weiltalweg trail in the Hochtaunuskreis. A total of 87 waymarkers were replaced along the 32‑km main section and its 23 km of spur routes, which run through Schmitten, Weilrod, Grävenwiesbach and reach Weilburg on the Lahn. The upgrade aims to improve orientation for hikers and cyclists and to maintain the trail’s attractiveness as a high‑quality nature experience.
