German Navy tests Israel’s Naval LORA ballistic missile

The German Navy has successfully completed dual operational firing trials of the Naval Long-Range Artillery (LORA) precision ballistic weapon system. Developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), the tests were conducted as part of the German Navy’s Operational Experimentation (OPEX) initiative, which supports the ‘Marine 2035 and Beyond’ force structure strategy.

The trials involved an operational German naval vessel equipped with a specialized deck-mounted launcher and a modular command-and-control trailer. The system demonstrated end-to-end mission capabilities, including trajectory launch, mid-course navigation, and terminal impact with high precision. The Naval LORA is a single-stage, solid-propellant ballistic system designed for sea-to-shore and sea-to-sea deep-strike capabilities.

The missile features an engagement envelope ranging from 90 km to 430 km. It utilizes a supersonic shaped trajectory to bypass modern air and missile defense networks and employs a GPS/INS navigation package to achieve a circular error probable (CEP) of 10 m at its maximum range.
