German open water swimmers complete notable endurance feats

In recent open water swimming events in Germany, Anke Höhne successfully completed the first segment of the Lake Constance three-country crossing. Swimming from Lindau to Rorschach, Höhne covered 15.174 kilometers in 7:27:54. Despite initial challenges with high winds and waves, conditions improved during the swim. Following this segment, she chose to conclude her effort after reaching a projected total distance of 22.222 kilometers.

Meanwhile, at the 30th Chiemsee long-distance swimming event, Olympic champion Florian Wellbrock finished in second place in the 4.5-kilometer race. Wellbrock competed under a unique handicap, starting three minutes after the initial signal. Despite a significant pursuit through the field, he was unable to overtake Max Dieckmann, who secured victory with a time of 49:23. Wellbrock finished the course in 51:39.
