German pension taxation and inheritance decisions
Discussions continue regarding the potential double taxation of pensions in Germany. Since 2023, pension provision expenses have become fully deductible under the Annual Tax Act, a measure intended to prevent taxpayers from paying taxes on pension contributions that were already taxed as income. Current regulations dictate that the taxable portion of pensions increases by 0.5 percentage points annually, as established by the 2022 Annual Tax Act and the Growth Opportunities Act.
In separate news, German singer Heino has revealed his inheritance plans. The 87-year-old entertainer intends to leave his estate to his manager, Helmut Werner, rather than family members. He noted that Werner and his family have become like family to him, providing essential support. This follows a previous transfer of a property in Kitzbühel to Werner in 2023.
