German police conduct bicycle safety and theft prevention checks

Police in various German regions have conducted targeted inspections to improve cycling safety and combat theft. In Stuttgart, officers carried out extensive checks across the city area, focusing on pedelecs, bicycles, and e-scooters. During the operation, officials inspected approximately 565 bicycles and e-mobility devices at parking areas and in traffic. This resulted in the seizure of 16 vehicles suspected of being stolen. The operation also included vehicle checks and safety awareness discussions with commuters.

In the Wunstorf area, the local police commissioner, supported by the Hannover Police bicycle squad, conducted safety inspections regarding cycling regulations. The checks focused on side distance measurements, stop sign compliance, and pedestrian zone restrictions. While many violations were noted, such as riding in the wrong direction or exceeding e-scooter speed limits, officials reported a relatively low number of infractions during the preventive work.
