German police conduct motorcycle inspections on L3196
Police conducted extensive traffic controls on the L3196 state road between Steinau and Marjoß following a series of severe and fatal accidents in recent months. The operation, carried out by specialists from the Main-Kinzig and Offenbach police directorates, focused on motorized two-wheelers using the popular but dangerous forest route.
Officers inspected 142 individuals and 137 vehicles, including motorcycles, cars, and quads. The inspections prioritized speed enforcement—within an 80 km/h zone—and the technical condition of motorcycles. Special attention was given to illegal modifications, such as altered exhaust systems or performance-enhancing tuning, which can void operating permits and compromise vehicle handling.
During the operation, authorities documented significant noise pollution and identified seven speeding violations. Three motorcycles were seized as a result of the checks.
