German police enforce arrest warrants and seize cocaine on autobahns

On Tuesday afternoon, Bundespolizei officers stopped a vehicle on the A3 near the Knauheide rest area. A 23‑year‑old Syrian entering from the Netherlands was identified via his passport and arrested on a warrant for extortion. He was taken to a prison in Kleve after failing to pay a €1,200 fine. The same day a 26‑year‑old German from Venlo avoided detention by paying a €90 fine for fraud, and a 25‑year‑old German was detained for driving without a licence, paying a €250 fine to continue his journey.

Later, on the A46 heading toward Heinsberg, police attempted to stop a vehicle that fled the checkpoint. The car was recovered and three men aged 26‑32 were detained. The driver appeared under the influence of drugs, and a package tossed from the window contained a significant quantity of cocaine. One of the men was also wanted on three outstanding arrest warrants. All three suspects were taken into custody pending further investigation.
