German police expand speed‑camera blitzes in multiple districts

The traffic ordinance unit of the Hochsauerlandkreis district announced a series of speed‑camera checks for July 6‑10, publishing exact locations on streets such as Brilon’s Scharfenberger Straße, Arnsberg‑Hüsten’s Clara‑Schumann‑Straße and Marsberg’s Hauptstraße. The police warned that additional sites could be added without prior notice and reiterated the penalties for exceeding speed limits, ranging from warnings to fines, administrative fees and possible driving bans.

In the Rhineland‑Palatinate town of Ludwigshafen, police have been monitoring the L523 – the road past the BASF plant – since February, enforcing a temporary 50 km/h limit on a stretch normally limited to 100 km/h. By early July, 9,299 drivers had been caught, with 632 facing possible licence revocation after repeated violations, including a recorded speed of 128 km/h. Road works to repair frost‑damaged pavement are slated to begin at the end of the week, after which the reduced speed limit is expected to be lifted.
