Cologne police investigate robot used in alleged sexual harassment of teen

German authorities in Cologne are investigating a suspected case of sexual harassment involving a humanoid robot. The incident occurred near a fast-food restaurant between 11:45 p.m. and midnight on the night of October 10–11, targeting a 16-year-old girl.

According to police reports, a red-and-gold Unitree robot, valued at approximately 5,000 euros, approached the girl from behind, touched her buttocks, and made sexually suggestive thrusting movements. The incident was allegedly recorded and livestreamed on social media by a 16-year-old owner and a 19-year-old companion, who provided live commentary.

Officers located the suspects a short distance from the scene and found the robot stowed in the trunk of a Volkswagen. Police have seized the robot and two mobile phones as evidence. Investigators are currently working to determine whether the robot's actions were pre-programmed or if the device was being controlled in real-time via remote control or an application.
