German police raid Bundestag deputy Adis Ahmetović’s office and homes

German authorities have conducted raids on the Bundestag office and three private residences of SPD lawmaker Adis Ahmetović in Berlin and Hannover. The searches followed the Bundestag’s decision to strip Ahmetović of his parliamentary immunity to facilitate the judicial investigation.

The Hannover prosecutor's office stated the investigation concerns the sale of land from a former clinic in Lehrte. Ahmetović is suspected of aiding in agreements that restrict competition in tender processes and violating business secrets. During the raid, Ahmetović surrendered his mobile phone, and investigators seized documents and electronic data.

Ahmetović and his lawyer, Holger Nitz, have rejected the allegations, describing the searches as “unnecessary and completely disproportionate.” The defense claims they were willing to cooperate and intended to appeal the search order.

The investigation also involves two other SPD politicians: former Hannover regional president Steffen Krach and Stefan Politze, who resigned from his position as SPD parliamentary group leader in Lower Saxony. All individuals involved are presumed innocent.
