German police seize cannabis plantations in Marl, Haltern, Duisburg
On 30 July 2026 police from the Recklinghausen district, together with the State Prosecutor’s Office in Essen, carried out large‑scale raids in the towns of Marl, Haltern am See and Duisburg. The operations uncovered two cannabis cultivation sites and a substantial cache of chemicals and equipment used for drug production.
Four men, aged 25 to 66, were taken into custody: two Tunisian nationals, a 31‑year‑old Albanian and a 66‑year‑old German. They are accused of organised cultivation, manufacture and trafficking of cannabis in non‑negligible quantities. Evidence seized includes the plantations, chemicals, mobile phones and other data carriers. The fire brigade and a specialist firm handled the safe disposal of the chemical containers. The suspects have been placed in investigative detention while the investigation continues.
