German police record hundreds of speed violations in Peine and Regensburg

Police in the town and district of Peine, Lower Saxony, carried out joint speed checks from 22‑24 June 2026. Using mobile laser devices, they detected 245 speed offences, including a maximum excess of 113 km/h over the 70 km/h limit outside towns and 73 km/h over the 50 km/h limit inside towns. They also recorded 25 seat‑belt breaches, 26 instances of mobile‑phone distraction, three suspected unlicensed drivers, two cases of drug use requiring blood draws, and one uninsured vehicle, prompting administrative and criminal proceedings.

In Bavaria, the Regensburg traffic police conducted speed controls at Arnschwang, Lappersdorf and on the A‑3 near Regensburg. Of roughly 8,700 vehicles passing the checkpoints, 461 were flagged for speeding. The highest recorded speed was 159 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, and eight drivers received driving bans. Other notable breaches included 81 drivers exceeding the limit on the B‑20 at Arnschwang and 63 exceeding the 50 km/h limit on a local road in Lappersdorf.
