Kempten suspect placed in custody after violent parking‑lot robbery
On Monday afternoon in Kempten, a 37‑year‑old man waited for a 23‑year‑old acquaintance on a parking lot near Magnusstraße. When the younger man returned, the older attacker used pepper spray, threatened him with a knife and demanded cash. The victim collapsed after the spray and was assisted by by‑standers until emergency services arrived. Failing to obtain money, the assailant fled with the victim’s keyring. Police launched an immediate search, locating the suspect on Quiberonstraße with the help of a police dog. He was arrested and, at the request of the public prosecutor, placed in pre‑trial detention on suspicion of aggravated robbery with dangerous bodily injury. The Kempten criminal police continue the investigation and are asking witnesses to call 0831 9909‑0.
The incident is being treated as a serious violent robbery, and authorities emphasize the need for any information about the attack.
