German police uncover major trucking violations during heavy vehicle inspections

Police in Germany have conducted large-scale heavy goods vehicle (HGV) inspections across multiple regions, uncovering significant regulatory violations. In the Trier region, authorities focused on food safety and heavy transport along the A1 and A60 motorways. During these checks, officers identified a Luxembourgish timber transport that exceeded weight limits at 46.6 tons and height restrictions. Additionally, a Belgian truck transporting horse manure was stopped for exceeding length regulations.

In southern Hessen, a major inspection on the A67 resulted in 21 vehicles being cited for various infractions. Notable violations included breaches of driving and rest time regulations, inadequate cargo securing, and operating without proper permits. One specific timber transporter was grounded after being found with only 12 securing straps instead of the required 41. Another massive transport weighing 110 tons was also intercepted for lacking the necessary transport permits.

Consequences for these violations included immediate vehicle impoundments, on-the-spot fines, and legal proceedings against both drivers and transport companies.
