German politicians discuss future of agriculture at school panel

At the Justus-von-Liebig-Schule, state parliament members from various parties—AfD, SPD, CDU, and Greens—participated in a panel discussion regarding the future of agriculture. The debate, involving students and agricultural professionals, focused on critical challenges such as planning security, bureaucracy, economic viability, animal welfare, and renewable energy.

While participants held differing views on market pricing and state intervention, there was a consensus on the need to reduce bureaucracy and improve the efficiency of regulatory requirements. All representatives identified renewable energy, particularly biogas, as a significant opportunity for the sector.
