German printer Scheffel doubles speed after full digital press shift

Canon's new user report details how Druckerei Scheffel, a family‑owned printing house in Wendelstein, Germany, has converted its entire production line from offset to digital printing.

The upgrade, completed by the end of 2025, uses two Canon imagePRESS V1000 presses, a Canon imagePROGRAF GP‑6600S and workflow tools PRISMAsync and PRISMAprepare. According to the company, the change cut production effort by about 50 % and almost doubled printing speed, while giving more flexibility to handle varied orders and opening new business opportunities. The project was driven by Christian Scheffel, second‑generation owner, together with Jürgen Lederer of Lederer GmbH and the Canon Business Center Bayern‑Mitte, in response to falling print runs, rising competition and a shortage of skilled staff.
