German prosecutors say Hamas plotted European attack for October 2025 anniversary

German federal prosecutors announced that Hamas had prepared a terrorist attack in Europe timed to the second anniversary of the Oct. 7, 2023 massacre in Israel. A pre‑recorded video claiming responsibility was seized during the autumn‑2025 arrest of nine suspected Hamas supporters involved in transporting and storing weapons for the group.

Subsequent arrests brought six more suspects in Germany and other European nations. The latest detention occurred at the end of May in Denmark, with earlier arrests in the United Kingdom and Cyprus. Prosecutors also indicated that one suspect kept arms in Vienna, Austria.
