German public administration welcomes new cohorts of trainees and staff

Public administration sectors in different German regions have recently welcomed new cohorts of trainees and civil servants to bolster their workforces.

In Lüneburg, the Hansestadt Lüneburg and the Abwasser, Grün & Lüneburger Service GmbH (AGL) onboarded 14 new employees following a selection process involving over 300 applicants. The new recruits, aged between 17 and 32, are entering various roles including dual study programs in social work and administration, as well as technical apprenticeships such as mechatronics, gardening, and electrical engineering.

In Hesse, Finance Minister R. Alexander Lorz swore in 280 new candidates for the Hessian Tax Administration during a ceremony in Frankfurt am Main. These recruits, who joined the administration on August 1, were selected from nearly 2,000 applicants. Minister Lorz emphasized the importance of the tax administration in funding public infrastructure and social services, noting the department's ongoing transition toward digital structures.
