German radio presenters announce departures and workplace changes

Longtime NDR radio presenter Peter Urban has announced his departure from the broadcaster after more than 52 years. The 78-year-old made the announcement live during his program, the ‘Peter Urban Show’ on NDR 2.

Urban, whose career at NDR began in 1973, is widely recognized for his music expertise and his role as the German commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest from 1997 to 2023. While he is leaving his current hosting role, he indicated that he is not retiring completely from music.

In a separate development within German public broadcasting, presenter Marco Schreyl announced via social media that his workplace, WDR2, is moving. Schreyl, who hosts the Sunday show on WDR2, noted the end of a personal tradition involving workplace photos at their current location due to the upcoming relocation.
